Erik Carriere is the main antagonist of Phantom in the The 1990 television movie, based on the Kopit musical. He is played by Charles Dance.

Character History[]

Erik was born and raised below the opera house due to his face. His mother loved him very much but she sadly died when he was three years old so the manger of the opera house raised him until he got fired 30 years later. Erik fell in love with the lovely Christine Daaé (who was played by Teri Polo) when he heard her singing alone on the opera stage so he decided to give her voice lessons, so that she can become a better singer to join the company and get her a main part.
